That's great! I like the foreshadowing of the drawing on the last page, but I wasn't expecting the doorway being the mouth of the monster. Very good allusion and very cool reveal.
Because of the comment on the last page, I keep thinking of him as Ed Asner and laughing. anyway, great set of pages. Something about the jump from page 9-10 is kind of abrupt to me, I don't know exactly what but I was kinda taken aback.
i'm not even remotely into this genre/period of comics you're nodding wildly to, but you've already eclipsed them with your dialogue and creative reveals. this is far more than just Silver Age homage, putting you firmly in Darwyn Cooke's territory... in 11 pages. Kudos, sensei.
