Prying eyes...? Nahhh, this is just another black-nail-painted, webbed panhandler. Ignore him, OR, better to scratch up some change now than to hear the rambling speech... Typcial NYC response. VERY nicely done Mike!

That's exactly what I was going for. The new ACT-I-VATE website is programmed to automatically translate High Atlantean speech, but those folks on the subway have no idea what Ultan's on about. Just another casualty to them. Easier to fork over some change than hear the whole song and dance.
Daily Bugle? LOVIATHAN fits right in with the Marvel Universe of yesteryear. Stan Lee maintained that superheroes wouldn't always stick out in NYC because lots of people dressed and spoke funny. Good to see Tim Leong stopping home-slice in his tracks with American coin, where one form of evil faces another. Money.
Glad someone caught the reference. Leong was just on his way back from a meeting with some Diamond Comics reps, and there he is forking over the entire profits from the last issue of Comic Foundry.
Granted that this is a sci-fi/superhero/fantasy comic strip but when has a New Yorker voluntarily given money without being asked or approached??!!? That's totally unrealistic.
And no one is taking photos of the guy on their cellphone cameras??
Couldn't decide on this one. I had another fully drawn version without the fancy "super panel". I think it works, but I had to stare at it for a while.
