Actually, she sent a couple boxfuls, and kept sending letters even after she cut the deal. I wouldn't be surprised if she was still sending them letters, even now.
Mr. Colden, great job! You've really captured how horrifying, brutal, senseless and tragic this case was.
When I read this, I just keep thinking to myself "This is a real insight into depravity".
I don't have a problem understanding people who kill to defend themselves, or who kill from anger...but this...sickens me. These people sicken me. I want to drive them out of the human race with rocks, and sticks and that is clearly part of the problem (Not just theirs, but mine.) This gave me an emotional reaction to people I honestly dislike.
Well, that's really one of the working themes - they're not boogeymen. They're human beings, like the hundreds we come in contact with every day, and yet the act they committed is monstrous. To make them into an "other", or an anomaly lets them off too easy, and it lets us as a society off too easy as well.
