Great to be here! Thanks, Fiffe! I've been in post-partum after finishing them and not having the satisfaction of posting them. Now, I am complete…at least for a couple weeks.
Joe, you did such an excellent job; I could gush over it in person all day, and have. (Merry Christmas, In-the-ovens!) I just need to add for the public record that Aunt Phibian MUST MUST get her own comic. The misadventures of that bonneted dead frog have to be told.
Mikey C coined that little gem. I'll have to have his blessing before I begin work on my proposed 700 page graphic novel based on Aunt Phibian. Thanks, Alexis. Your help shares much of the responsibility for any success of this story.
this is awesome so far and looks amazing. Has this really groovy EC kinda feel to it, I'm loving it so far (and I second what Fiffe said about the villains). Welcome!! I'm looking forward to reading the pages to come.
I'm not sure these villains have survived for a comeback but there's always more trouble brewing in New Crown City! Thanks for the comment, Pedro. I'm really excited about being a part of Act-i-vate!
Wow, looks like the first superhero I will follow after I bought my first and only Batman back in the late 70ies. Crazy stuff. Awesome presentation too.
Thanks, Leland. I hope to continue to raise bar as this baby goes on. Being surrounded by so many accomplished cartoonists certainly helps raise my game. Thanks!
When Thelonious Monk was alive and playing music and leading his band -- a curious thing used to occur once in a blue moon. If the music was grooving just right, he'd stop playing his piano, stand up, and start dancing around his musical cohorts, swept up and away by the magic of the tune. It was a sight to see.
Your debut has made me step away from my art table so I can enjoy comix in a way I haven't been able to since I was 12-years old, lying on the rug of my bedroom floor reading SHAZAM! and FANTASTIC FOUR, over and over again, wearing the biggest smile in the world.
Wow, Dean. Thank you. Frankly, I'm speechless. This is such a great comment/compliment. I owe no small debt to you on this. Your support and suggestions have helped me raise my game.
You and everybody else at Deep6 have been so generous in sharing their drawing tables and laughing at my jokes. The time I've spent with you all has taught me a lot and I thank you for it.
Fantastic debut! The art, story and concept are all amazing. Staying home and crafting an Ultra-Lad lunchbox (with authentic lead-based paint) in it's honor.
Could you have that lunchbox filled with your culinary delights? I'll take the lead paint as long as it comes with some of your delicious food. Thanks for your villainous brainstorming and your comment, Eric. I really appreciate it.
Alexis, this is your conscience. It's okay. You can come clean about the Old Spice. People will love you and accept you as you are. Go on, share your choice in scents...the world is listening.
Wait, who is Joe Infurnari and how did my name get on this comic? Why do I suddenly smell like aftershave lotion??? Is this your apartment I'm in? (Nice coffee table!)
PS If you're going to keep invading my mind and forcing me to work on comics stories, can we at least get some soy milk in the fridge? Thanks.
Thanks, Mike. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate the compliments about storytelling and drawing but I'm most happy that you liked the lettering. I'm a complete novice when it comes to that so any notice of my lettering is very nice.
Ooh, that scamp, Percival! If I didn't love him so much, I'd wring his neck for what he did to my "Werewolf By Night" collection!
Oh, Aunt Phibian. I'm thinking a fun fusion of Weekend at Bernie's and Reform School Girls. She's dead but somehow still manages to rule as headmistress/mentor to a girl's catholic reform school. Uh...I think this still needs some more work.
I heart Blamazon! But I lost my action figure years ago (sob). I feel honored that you deigned to use my humble drafting table to create some of these pages. It's been great having you around the studio. I keep hoping that a small fleck of your talent will flutter my way. Or at least that I can steal some of your jokes.
NEVER! Every flake of my talent-infused dandruff is mine, all MINE! You can have, however, whatever I've left on your seat.
In all seriousness...thanks Joan. I'm really thankful for the time I've already spent at Deep 6. It's truly an inspirational and fun place. I'm so glad you like Blamazon. She's a fun girl.
Oh...btw...my fingernail clippings ARE for sale on Ebay.
Wow. Thanks Ryan. It's great to be here and all the love in this comment thread is very nice. I've got my head on ice trying to keep the swelling down.
You know, I thought I liked the *comic*, but thanks to this surreal multiple-personality Alexis/Joe/Alexis thing that's going on, I might actually like the comments thread better.
Always trying to keep it interesting...;) Bear in mind that the only way to really keep the comments coming is to keep posting more pages. It looks to me like you're a winner on both fronts...more comics, more comments, more shenanigans.
I don't know what you're talking about...'faux antiquated look'? I just scan the pages in as they are. It's really no big deal, SGWAP. Either way, I love your enthusiasm! I'll see you in two weeks!
In the meantime, go check out some of the other amazing comics to be found on this site. You'll not be disappointed.
It's all this fun being had at his name that has led him to a life of villainy, folks. I would appreciate a little sensitivity! I don't even know what all the hullabaloo is about.
I could make a whole slew of inappropriate jokes about Carmen's melons, her stern disciplinarian ways and her shapely patterned pant-suit...ugh...I gotta go!
Thanks again for your imaginative comments and participation in ULTRA-lad, Warren!
Thanks, Steve! Mike was very generous to have sent a nod my way and I'm glad it's been worthwhile for you. Thanks for the comment and I'm glad to have you on board and stay tooned!
I love the campy feel of this comic. The boy super hero twist here works great. I stopped liking super heroism novels when they started taking themselves too seriously. Its great to read something that has supers and is more playful. Can't wait to take in more off this character!

I dig all the cool villians. Despite them being thwarted and all, I hope they all come back at some point.
It's like you discovered an obscure old comic and scanned in the pages, then put your name on it. Brilliant plan!
