Firstly, thanks for your comments. Observations like these are
invaluable towards improving the overall reading experience for
visitors to the site. When we began designing the ACT-I-VATE website,
one of our first questions was, "Flash, or no Flash". As you may
know, webcomics sites like ZUDA employ a Flash based interface that
will resize itself depending on your monitor and browser settings. It
comes with a few drawbacks, though, that left many readers dissatisfied.
We chose to keep ACT-I-VATE as simple as possible for the time being,
and opted for a basic HTML platform. One of the results is that the
artwork will not resize itself to accommodate your individual monitor
and browser settings.


Depending on the specific monitor resolution you've chosen in your
computer's control panels, the artwork in your browser window may
appear large and may be forced off the screen. For example, I have
access to a Mac, a PC, and a laptop. On the Mac and the laptop, the
artwork appears uninterrupted on the center of the screen, no
additional scrolling involved. On the PC, however, it's as you
described. Adjusting for one group of settings throws the image off
when viewed on the others.
Each AIV contributor tries to find some middle ground that works
best, as far as they can tell, for the most people. Since we check
our own work on a variety of platforms, and we don't get a lot of
comments like this, we assume we're doing a good job for the most part.


At this time, it's technically impossible for us to create
programming that will accommodate every combination of computers,
operating systems, various browsers and monitor settings, without
also inheriting a completely different set of problems that would
negatively affect the ACT-I-VATE reading experience in other ways.


We're always hoping to improve our website as technology and finances
allow. Should a comprehensive solution to the concern you bring up
present itself, we would be happy to adopt it immediately.
