I never did drop acid, so I have to think about this one some more -- but I can't tell you how thrilled I was to see one of those little Chinese umbrellas in the frontispiece.
(Evidently, people of my advancing years get very excited when they spy the motifs of their youth...)
Am I wrong, or do we not see these umbrellas in fruity alcoholic drinks? I believe my brother-in-law won't order a drink unless it has an umbrella in it. But thanks for noticing--the devil is in the details...
Well, I used to get them in Boston's Chinatown when I was in my primary years, when I wasn't much of a drinker -- as an adult, I do plenty of alcoholic drinks, but I insist upon the ones that *don't* have umbrellas in them. So I sort of assumed that the umbrellas are now made of plastic instead of those little bamboo and paper things.
Upon reflection, I'll comment that the mice did a number on the dollhouse I built my girlfriend (now life companion) in the 25 years it was stored at my parents' house -- so this strip may not have brought back the fondest associations...die, Mary Droppins, die!
I am so glad you're into him. Yeah, I think that might develop quite nicely. I'm wondering if I've stretched my audience's patience to its limits with the dollhouse theme, however. Personally, I'd like to see Barbie kick Ken's ass for fooling around with Dollhouse Mom...
Yeah, if you visit my blog you'll find a note about the musical numbers to be included in the movie version of this comic, including "A Spoonful of Cheese Makes the Medicine Go Down," "Flee the Birds", and "Let's Take a Shit on This Chick's Stove".
