Dean Haspiel is a native New Yorker who created BILLY DOGMA and STREET CODE and steeps in psychotronic movies, psychedelic electronica, and Jack Kirby pulp. Dean has collaborated on great superhero and semi-autobiographical comic books, helped pioneer personal webcomics with the invention of ACT-I-VATE, and draws for HBO's "Bored To Death." Dean Haspiel is a native New Yorker and the creator of the Eisner award nominated, psychedelic bruiser romance, BILLY DOGMA, the semi-autobiographical, STREET CODE, and the webcomix collective, ACT-I-VATE. Dino studied under Bill Sienkiewicz, Howard Chaykin, and Walter Simonson, and has drawn comics for The New York Times, Marvel, DC/Vertigo, Scholastic, Dark Horse [where he drew Michael Chabon's THE ESCAPIST], Francoise Mouly and Art Spiegelman's Toon Books [where he drew MO & JO: Fighting Together Forever], and "Back On Nervous Street," with author Jonathan Lethem for Cousin Corinne's REMINDER. He is best known for his semi-autobio collaborations with Harvey Pekar on THE QUITTER and AMERICAN SPLENDOR, and with Jonathan Ames on THE ALCOHOLIC, THE DOUBLE LIFE IS TWICE AS GOOD, and HBO’s “Bored to Death.” This Fall debuts Dino's new Vertigo graphic novel, CUBA - MY REVOLUTION, an original collaboration with Cuban writer/painter, Inverna Lockpez.
